Weekly Photo Challenge: Cover Art

The instructions for the Weekly Photo Challenge are:

For this week’s Photo Challenge, stimulate your creative process and imagine which of your images you would like to see gracing the cover of a book, an album, or a magazine. Would the image inspire us to take a peek through the pages, listen to the music, or buy a ticket to the show? Would it strike a chord with viewers, making them reflect on or revisit memories of places, people, and experiences.

This is the photo I picked for a book cover:

Cover Art 2

The title I chose was Beauty Rises From the Darkness.  The focus of the book would be the many ways beauty emerges in difficult situations or unlikely places.  In the case of the photo above, the flower grew from a big mound of yard waste.

Another example of beauty rising from the darkness is the beautiful Indian lotus, known for growing in sludgy mud.

Holocaust survivors talk about acts of caring that occurred during their horrific experiences.  Individuals with life threatening illnesses may change their entire lives much as a flower blossoms as they walk that journey in their life.  A smile, a touch, a kind word so often brings beauty into the life of those who are living in darkness of one form or the other.

What book title comes to your mind as YOU look at the picture at the top of the page?

  1. Things are not Always as They Appear
I would prefer another word than ‘things’, but couldn’t think of one in the moment. And i wanted to word the title in positive language which also eludes me right now.
